A therapist, a mom, and a woman of color

I started my practice because I wanted to give back to the community that has helped me so much.

When I set out to find a therapist for myself, I realized the importance of finding someone who could truly understand my experiences. As a person of color, I knew that having a therapist who shared my cultural background would be instrumental in my healing journey. I needed someone who had firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by individuals like me, who had walked a similar path and could truly empathize with my struggles.

Unfortunately, mental health has often been a topic shrouded in silence within the black community. The stigma around mental health has caused immeasurable harm, leaving so many in our community feeling alone, unheard, and misunderstood.

I have dedicated my life to being a driving force that diminishes the stigma surrounding black mental health. Empower Melanin Counseling is a space where you can feel seen, heard, and validated.
